Planetarium Software
These planetarium software packages are free.

They are listed in generally the best first. However, not each program is best for everyone.

Because they are free, you can try them all and choose those that are best suited for you and your needs.

Some of these allow you make custom charts for your purposes that you can save and print.

There are other program packages that can be searched for on the internet.


A good place to start is using some simple star charts to familiarize one to the the night sky.
Then as one progresses, the software expands the observer to more of our universe.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before viewing the Sun, you MUST equip your telescope with a safe solar filter certified to the latest ISO standards. The filter should cover the entire aperture of your telescope. Do NOT use an eyepiece filter or Herschel wedge. Viewing the Sun without a proper solar filter will cause permanent, irreversible damage to your eyes and your equipment.
